Laguna Water Strengthens El Niño Preparedness to Ensure Reliable Water Supply

Laguna Water continues to reinforce its readiness and implement proactive measures to mitigate the potential effects of El Niño, ensuring a dependable water supply for customers across its service areas. Laguna Water General Manager Constantine O. Uy said the company remains vigilant in monitoring water supply conditions and continuously enhances its operational capabilities to sustain reliable water service amid changing weather patterns.

We regularly assess the availability of our water sources, optimize system operations, and conduct preventive maintenance activities to help ensure uninterrupted water distribution. We also continue to intensify our non-revenue water reduction initiatives to minimize water losses and improve system efficiency. In addition, we work closely with local government units and other stakeholders to monitor conditions across our service areas and implement appropriate measures, when necessary, Uy said.

Laguna Water sources its water from groundwater and the Matang Tubig Spring. It also operates the Laguna Well Field, one of the largest centralized water supply systems in Laguna, with a production capacity of up to 100 million liters per day. The company maintains an approximate 20% water buffer to help ensure a reliable water supply across its service areas. 

In addition to Laguna Wellfield, the company energized the Canlubang Sugar Estate (CSE) Bulk Water Supply Project in 2025. The project is expected to provide an additional 17 million liters per day (MLD) of water, benefiting communities throughout the Province of Laguna.

Beyond strengthening its infrastructure and operations, Laguna Water continues to promote water conservation among its customers through its Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) programs. The company encourages customers to practice responsible water use, particularly during periods of increased demand and prolonged dry weather, to help preserve available water resources. The company also implements environmental conservation programs, such as tree-planting and cleanup activities, aimed at protecting water sources and promoting groundwater recharge.

Through these initiatives, Laguna Water remains committed to delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable water services while continuously enhancing its preparedness and response strategies against the challenges posed by El Niño and other climate-related events.
