Laguna Water brought the program Tamang Sanitasyon Equals Kalusugan, Kalinisan, at Kaunlaran ng Bayan (TSEK ng Bayan) to the municipality of Mabitac, Laguna last May 12.

Relative to the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region IV-A initiatives to bring back the pristine quality of the Manila Bay by cleaning tributaries such as Laguna Lake and other waterways in Laguna, Laguna Water holds the TSEK ng Bayan program to educate people about wastewater, which is considered as the biggest contributor to water pollution.

Laguna Water representatives highlighted in the program at Mabitac the need for wastewater treatment as part of proper sanitation. More than 100 attendees were eager to learn how wastewater affects their health, their natural resources, and their municipality’s growth and development. Moreover, the different ways Laguna Water can help in improving sanitation were introduced, such as sewer network, desludging, and Portable Toilet Solution.

Aside from wastewater treatment, Laguna Water also presented the simple practices people can do for the environment, particularly their waterways. These include segregating of garbage and educating other people with the information they learned from TSEK ng Bayan.

Towards the end of the program, the Municipal Government of Mabitac headed by Mayor Ronald Sana and Vice Mayor Alberto Reyes signed a Toka Toka Agreement with Laguna Water. As a Toka Toka partner, Mabitac commits to implementing resolutions and ordinances that will increase environmental responsiveness of the different communities in their town.
