Bagging the most number of awards in the Gawad Iwas-Lunas: Risk Management Excellence Awards 2016 was Laguna Water. Held last December 8 at the Lakbayan Center of Manila Water in Balara, Quezon City, Laguna Water won two out of the three major categories; Best Risk Management Culture and Risk Advocate of the Year.

Receiving recognitions from the Head office for the first time, Laguna Water’s win in this year’s Gawad Iwas-Lunas were judged by three renowned risk management experts in the country, Chairman and President of Philippine Trust Company Dr. Jaime C. Laya; Singapore-based Regional Director of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Consulting Craig Paterson; and Ayala Corporation’s Chief Finance Officer Jose Teodoro Limcaoco.

Encouraging all the departments and groups to develop a risk culture, Manila Water gives recognition to those who have shown excellence in handling issues and concerns that may cause uncertainties in the business through the Gawad Iwas-Lunas: Risk Management Excellence Awards.

Best Risk Management Culture award is given to the department, group or subsidiary that has ensured continuous improvement in risk management capability which covers the whole risk management process. Meanwhile, Risk Advocate Award is given to an individual who has made the most significant contribution to risk management.

“Effective risk management plays a vital role in Laguna Water’s growth and development. With the proper management of risks, we are able to fulfill our mission of empowering the people, protecting the environment, and championing sustainable development,” said Finance and concurrent Regulatory & External Affairs Head Mark Mesina, winner of the Risk Advocate of the Year.
