Laguna Water Launches Linis Eskwela 2016

Ensuring a Better Future for Future Generations. Laguna Water employees spend time in helping schools rehabilitate their facilities through the Linis Eskwela 2016 program.

Laguna Water launched Linis Eskwela 2016, a continuity program of Lingap Eskwela which supports the 2016 National Schools Maintenance program, popularly known as “Brigada Eskwela”, with the theme “Tayo Para sa Paaralang Ligtas, Maayos, at Handa Mula Kindergarten Hanggang Senior High School”.

Brigada Eskwela, a modern version of Bayanihan, is one of the Department of Education’s initiatives in ensuring that schools are clean, safe, disaster-prepared and conducive for learning prior to the start of the school year. As part of Laguna Water’s Lingap Eskwela, a program that insulates children from water-borne diseases through the provision of clean and safe drinking water, Linis Eskwela was launched as a preventive maintenance project for the donated handwashing and drinking facilities in the different school-beneficiary. 

“The program [Linis Eskwela] gives priorities to beneficiaries of Lingap Eskwela to ensure that the handwashing and drinking facilities are in good condition before the start of classes,” said Real C. Magtangob, Laguna Water’s Regulatory and External Affairs Head. He added that this program is also an avenue for the organization to engage in activities that “supports community development, particularly public school rehabilitation”.

Participating in this Bayanihan for schools, Laguna Water gathered employee-volunteers to help in the restoration activities of the following schools: Loma Elementary School, Canlalay Elementary School, and Sto. Tomas Elementary School in Binan, Sta. Rosa Central Elementary School in Sta. Rosa, and Niugan Elementary School in Cabuyao.

Together with the school administrators, teachers, parents, and other volunteers, Laguna Water joined in the different school rehabilitation activities including repainting of classrooms and other parts of the school building, repairing of damaged chairs, desks, and tables, and cleaning of school grounds, among others.

Aside from the employee-volunteers, the company also donated paints, paint brushes, tumblers, and environmental signage to the above-mentioned schools.
