STA.CRUZ, LAGUNA— The ceremonial turnover of capital seed fund totaling to Php1.2M to twelve (12) cooperatives from the Province of Laguna was held last March 11 at the Provincial Capitol in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.
Laguna Water and Manila Water Foundation (MWF), through the Kabuhayan Para Sa Barangay (KPSB) program, granted 12 livelihood cooperatives each with Php100,000 non-interest bearing loan capital.
Present during the ceremonial turnover of checks were more than 300 officers from various cooperatives operating in Laguna. “We are thankful for the support that Laguna Water and the Manila Water Foundation consistently give to our Province,” said Provincial Administrator Atty. Dulce H. Rebanal during the event. “This kind of partnership is valuable in assuring provision of needed support for Cooperatives here in our province.”
KPSB is one of the joint-partnership programs implemented by Laguna Water and MWF in the Province. It aims to provide an interest-free loan capital to cooperatives with the purpose of improving their financial capacity to sustain and grow their operation and organization.
Last year, a total of thirty-three (33) cooperatives qualified in the program and were each given the loan capital during two separate awarding ceremonies held at the Provincial Capitol. This is the most number of beneficiaries provided with the seed fund since the said program was implemented back in 2013. It was also the largest number qualified by MWF for one province for 2015.
Laguna Water is a successful public-private partnership between the Provincial Government of Laguna and Manila Water Philippine Ventures, a wholly-owned company by Manila Water Company Inc. (Manila Water), the Ayala-led water service provider in the East Zone of Metro Manila and a leader in the water industry in the Philippines, with presence in Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia.
