Laguna Water, in partnership with Manila Water Foundation, continues to assist schools as part of its Lingap Eskwela program which aims to provide greater access to clean, safe and potable water and improve the sanitation conditions of more than 7,500 students in different public schools in the Province.
Students of six public schools were chosen to be among this year’s Lingap Eskwela project recipients who will benefit from the construction and refurbishing of eight wash areas and provision of nine drinking fountains, funded by a donation from the Manila Water Foundation.
During the recently held inauguration of the water facilities in Caingin Elementary School in Sta. Rosa, Chief of Staff of the Provincial Government of Laguna Vince Soriano, who represented Governor Ramil Hernandez, expressed that through Laguna Water, a joint venture company between the Provincial Government and Manila Water Philippine Ventures, underserved communities in the entire Province may soon gain access to reliable piped water supply and used water services. “We are very happy with the assistance and service Laguna Water has provided in answering the water supply needs of the Province,” said Soriano. “In fact for other provinces and areas that experience difficulties in potable water supply, we recommend fostering a partnership with Manila Water.”
Last June, Laguna Water announced that it will expand its business operations from the three cities of Sta. Rosa, Biñan, and Cabuyao to the entire Province. Manila Water Foundation President Ferdinand Dela Cruz said that along with the expansion in area coverage, Lingap projects and other efforts of Laguna Water and Manila Water Foundation will soon reach other parts of Laguna. “Young Lagunenses may now enjoy clean and safe potable water in the schools as much as they do at home,” said Dela Cruz. “Besides the provision of water facilities, Manila Water Foundation is also donating 400 books to nourish the imagination of the elementary students”.
Laguna Water and Manila Water Foundation wish to implement more Lingap projects not just in schools but also in other public institutions and areas where access to clean water supply remains to be a challenge.
